This is served as a hot sandwich. Pairs great with a nice soup and/or salad to a make a complete meal!
INGREDIENTS
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more for greasing the pan
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1-2 teaspoon Sinai Gourmet Ghost Original hot sauce, (add more for extra heat)
- 1 cup shredded ham (or dark-meat turkey)
- 8 slices ham (or turkey breast)
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 4 slices sandwich bread (preferably 4- to 5-inch square slices), or sesame bun, toasted if desired
- 4 slices aged cheddar cheese
STEPS
- In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise with Sinai Gourmet Ghost Original hot sauce to create Ghost Mayo Spread.
- In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium-low heat until foamy. Add shredded ham (or dark meat turkey), stirring occasionally, until warmed through, about 2 minutes. Add cheddar cheese slices on top to melt. Transfer to a plate.
- In same skillet, melt the additional 2 tablespoons butter over medium low heat until foamy. Add the ham slices (or turkey), flipping occasionally until warmed through.
- Assemble the sandwiches: slather both slices of bread of each sandwich with your Ghost Mayo Spread. Feel free to add a drop or two of the Sinai Gourmet Ghost Original hot sauce in between layers as well for extra heat.
- Layer one slice of cheese over top of bottom bread slice slathered with Ghost Mayo Spread.
- Add 2 slices of ham (or turkey), evenly divide the shredded ham (or turkey meat), and add to top of sliced ham (or turkey).
- Add another slice of cheddar cheese, finish with 2 more slices of ham (or turkey meat).
- Add sliced pickles, crunchy iceberg lettuce, or coleslaw from this recipe if desired.
- Top with remaining Ghost Mayo Spread slathered bread.
- Using a sharp serrated knife, cut each sandwich on the diagonal and serve warm.
You might want to keep a glass of milk handy. This sandwich has got some kick!
